Bali va développer le premier système de transit ferroviaire

Bali aura son premier réseau ferroviaire. Actuellement, Bali prévoit de construire un système de transport par rail léger (LRT). Le LRT vise à relier l'aéroport international de Ngurah Rai à Kuta et le processus de construction devrait commencer dans les prochains mois. 

Pour ce faire, la Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND), la Korean Rail Network Authority (KRNA) et la société de construction publique Nindya Karya ont déjà signé un accord pour permettre le développement du système de métro léger à Bali. 
Ce protocole d'accord fait suite à une annonce faite par le gouverneur de Bali, I Wayan Koster, en mai dernier, lorsqu'il a annoncé l'amélioration des transports publics sur l'île, notamment ceux reliant l'aéroport à plusieurs zones touristiques. 

"Le nouveau réseau de métro léger peut offrir une nouvelle alternative pour atteindre l'aéroport, ce qui pourrait réduire le trafic autour de l'aéroport", a déclaré Ikmal Lukman, un adjoint chargé de la planification des différents investissements au sein du Conseil de coordination des investissements en Indonésie (BKPM). 

Le métro léger représente un investissement de 5 000 milliards de roupies indonésiennes, ce qui équivaut à 365 millions de dollars US. Le réseau s'étendra sur 4,78 kilomètres et sera composé de 4 stations et terminaux qui se situeront autour de Kuta. 
Selon le directeur général par intérim de Nindya Karya, Haedar A Karim, le métro léger ne sera qu'un des nombreux projets d'infrastructure à venir à Bali, car ce développement comprendra plus tard la création d'une ville verte et plusieurs autres projets axés sur le transit autour de Seminyak et de Kuta. 

Selon Haedar, le projet de système de transport par métro léger devrait être opérationnel d'ici 2020.
